parking and ride the road up to the stock tanks.. |
Description - WARNING, there is sand on this ride.. Tried to mark most of the really bad spots on the map, some can be avoided by first traveling in the correct direction and skipping some sections. All said and done, you will WALK 200 ft, section, 100Ft section, 50 ft section and about say 8 short 10or 20 ft sections.. I still think its a worthy ride if your lookin for something different in Moab.. Pork 4x4 is similar to porcupine rim trail with some nice extended slab sections, some drops, few rollers loose rock, then one sand section.. Fins and things Has some really cool rock section, TONS of rock, fun as hell lines.. Just be prepared for sand, only downer of the ride.. Loops - Do this as a CounterClockwise figure 8ish loop, starting from stock tanks on porcupine rim classic starting point, get map at top (more detail than bikerag map), take porcupine 4x4 down, end of trail has 200ft walk up sand.. Take exit to sand flats road, right on sand flats, cruise down sand flats and look for major right turn, you will see sign for fins and things, cool rock, go left pedal short distance and take a right near next cool rock.. (sign has fins and things going both RIGHT and LEFT here).. Next intersection, take left, (or you can do an out and back go right till you hit sand, U-turn like we did).. Anyway, once on fins and things, just keep following the trail.. I hear its possible to hook up with practice looop near end (this would avoid a deep long sand section). ALTERNATE... We did this as part of a massive shuttle ride that was great.. Kokapelli down, to UPS (upper porcupine singletrack), to LPS, Then Take a left on CLASSIC porcupine CLIMB and descend back toward stock tanks.. Just before you hit the stock tanks Veer right on Porcupine 4x4 trail.. Add in Daves trail for bonus on the way home.. Pre-ride Music: |
