Notes From Caveman

US National Whitewater Center (Catawba river trails) - This facility is amazing! There's a world class artificial whitewater park that the US Olympic teams train at, really nice outdoor climbing walls, bike trials park, and miles of mountain bike trails all a stone's throw from your parking spot. The trails are pretty much XC with a few jumps and logs thrown in here and there. All the trails are loops that begin and end at the same spot so there is equal climbing/descending. This was my first stop and the trails turned out to have the best flow of any of the areas I went to. After the first time around, you find that there's never any dangers lurking so you can really rip and hit all the many many turns and twists at full speed, super fun. There's an old slalom run and "DH" course that have not been maintained, which is too bad, they are still fun, but could be even better.
