|Wells State Park - Mountain Bike Trail Review with Map and Pictures|
Update*5-4-11 - Went back for a second round of trail hunting at Wells. Headed out on the accessible trail to find loads of turtles, chipmunks and some cool birds. Found a singletrack off that and followed it for about 1.75 miles . ended up parallel to park road. All tight, abandoned Singletrack with a few rock lines - good evidence of some mtb traffic. One roller, one 2 footer, few other cool natural features.. IF your stuck in traffic on 84 before the toll, decent place to kill an hour or more.
Description - Cant believe it took me this long to check out a state park that is so close. Just over the border in Mass and its right off the highway. Trails are a mix of easy double track, rocky double track, park roads and bits of singletrack. Off trail the terrain is pretty awesome, lots of cool rocks throughout the park. Nice views along the pond and a pretty cool rock lookout and power lines lookout. Saw some funky marsh birds (herring?), hawks circling and lots of turtles. Ill go back and ride what I missed but from what I can see its not a very developed trail system. There were some nice signs of MTB use with just a few mild to moderate trail enhancements.. FYI trail markings not super consistent, a bit foncusing.. But the place is small so no worries.
|Total Miles: 10 ish?|
