Directions: From Lyons turn left onto Highway 7
and drive 1.3 miles. The trailhead with a parking lot is on the right side.
It is marked with a big sign “Hall Ranch”. Or you can ride your bike from
the commuter parking lot in the center of Lyons (follow same directions
above) – that’s what we did. Description: A small park that is well maintained with multi-use trails. There are three trails for mountain bikers: Bitterbrush Trail (3.8 miles), Antelope trail (1 mile) and the Nelson Loop (2.2 miles). A portion of trail involves climbing (1300 feet) which includes a mile long technical rock garden. The rest of the trail is relatively non-technical with hardpacked pea gravel which can be slippery when going around corners at speed. It is 100% singletrack. Loop: We started at the Bitterbrush trailhead and went clockwise so we could climb up the technical rock garden. Riding the rocks was like a slice of Moab- slabs and techy ups. Climb a little more to the bench (great views of Longs Peak) than go down a small descent to start a long gradual climb Mostly in middle one) to the Nelson Loop. A little more climbing and then the fun begins with a long serpentine downhill to connect back with the Bitterbrush trail. Right before the bench take a left down the Antelope Trail which has tight switchbacks down to Apple Valley Road. At the bottom take a left onto Highway 36 which brings you back into Lyons.
