Subject: gnarly ride recap - Got ROcks?? Date: Sun, 24 Oct 1999 11:46:57 -0400 From: Jon Petersen To: "Keith.Evans@travelers.com" , "Gary.Parent@Levgrp.com" , KatherineWaite , armando vargas , steve edwards , "Lowenstein, Christopher O" , allyson coughlan Well the nipmuck and natchaug trail sure did! Just ask myself, armando, Suzy, steve, keith, stu or the 'lady' we met on the trail. 6 of us left from my house, 2 almost bailed at the trailhead, 7 of us made it to the end of the trail and 4 of us made it back to the car - phew... If the last ride we did was called an adventure I dont know what to call this one.... 5+ hrs and about 20 miles of riding. Highlights include technical mahem, foot bridges, barbed wire, a small hail storm, the 'lady' who followed us home and famous quotes of encouragement - such as - 50 ft from the car!, we are making good time (yeah right), no more hills (yeah right again), the gps died, did anyone bring lights, It could be worse, that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger, who's gunna pick the barbed wire out of steves b_lls (not me!! - poor suzy). Steve's quotes were not included due to internet email regulations. Believe it or not we did not get lost, we were somewhere at all times!! At the end of the trail we had to do something with the lady that followed us (she was on foot) and wouldn't leave us alone so I found an old vaccum cleaner on the side of the road and we used the long white power cord to tie her up off the road (surprizingly no gag needed). Armando and myself were so glad we went climbing for 2 1/2 hours the night before! Our evening plans fell apart as everyone was spent and big steve supposedly failed to relay the coordinates of the hot tub and beers to the rest. I think the rest of the crew stayed home and watched the scoobie doo marathon. Armando and I enjoyed some homade chile, and jays homebrews. I went out later to see the landlord of love where I just happend to meet up with brother jay who was drinking straight tequila at the bar (rough day I guess). a long recap for a long ride, if the last one choked you, this one should at least suffocate! (my intentions exactly) gotta go plan the next adventure - trailmaster p.s. 'lady' was a rotweiiler that chased us down the trail and followed us for 5 miles. Keith and stu were nice enough to bring her home - I wanted to sell her on the black dog market. - is anyone not talking to me after sat. ride?? Subject: adventures of pukecycle I Date: Mon, 08 Nov 1999 08:35:56 -0500 From: Jon Petersen To: "Keith.Evans@travelers.com" , "heynonny@visto.com" , KatherineWaite , armando vargas , steve edwards , stu evans , acoughlan@ttiinc.com 3 ride recap! Friday - nepaug. Quick ride with Rob Ayer and myself. Very technical and scenic- nipmukesc... trail some rock climbing required. 6 miles. Rob and I both made it up 5$ hill on our second attempt - do we get 2.50$. We ran into a child molester in the woods, but left him alone. Later keith, steve and I got the worst service at a japanese rest. in middletown where I got roophies in my water and steve was given a dirty wet towel (by keith). Next stop New Haven. Sat - case mountain - stellar ride with the emotionally handicapped (myself included). Steve, keith, stu, joel, les and myself did a big loop?(only 10 miles guys) at case, and the whining didn't stop until the end of the ride. The trail was purple-blue- trail rage blue-red-yellow-fort-tinte'-powerlines-blue (nice sunset) blue, blue blue....then we split up so that steve could ride in the dark by himself(busted light) with les, as the rest of us barreled down the red to a free ride bushwack. Joel - welcome aboard, it was great riding with you. Off to New haven again - this time to see mr bungle and hang at ricktors. Sun - wadsworth falls - not so stellar ride. Steve made some kick as salmanila egg sandwiches at keiths house before the ride Thanks. The falls proved to be, scenic, but quite lame - apparently a good spot to bring your sig. other and do lots of hand holding. We rode every trail plus a 2 mile bush wack which totalled 6.3 miles. Highlights include the hairy vine tree trail (watch out for the tree grab.. YIKES!!!), 'snowboarding' on the main trail just to piss the hikers off and the blue wich ends at a cliff (great first date ride). I didn't know if you guy's noticed at the cliff when I said to that lady ' you can just grab me anywhere' - I did'nt mean for it to come out like that. Cracked me right up after I said it! Got some pics back of soapstone - case night - case day - some good ones Next recap will probably be pukecycle goes to moab for warm weather testing!! - IF I COME BACK...... till the next time - Fearless leader
