Movie In Question Rating in Buckets of love Juice Honey Bunny Commentary
"Kangaroo Jack" NYR I'd like to start by saying that, I attending this movie in a brand new
outfit from J Crew... I was feeling pretty good about myself and I thought nothing could bring me down.  Then the movie started.

Down I went.

"Down under." NYR I couldn't stop the tune "do you come from a land down under" by Men at Work from running through my head.  Even my new bell bottoms couldn't save this movie.

In a word:  Dumb.
"We Were Soldiers"  Available on Video Cassette and DVD NYR You'd think I had some kind of fetish for Australians based on this line up of reviews... but that is not the case, Mate.  "We Were Soldiers" is a wonderful movie with actual character development, a plot and a good script. You get to know the main characters as they train for battle by day, and raise their families by night, and then are shipped off to Vietnam.  The main focus of the movie is three intense days of non-stop battle.  U.S. Troops are surrounded and outnumbered by the hundreds.  Friends die.  There is hand to hand combat, bombs and every other kind of killing you can
imagine.

I noticed the name "Greg Kinnear" on the box at the video store, and put the movie back on the shelf three times before finally renting it.  What was a "Talk Soup" host going to accomplish in Vietnam?  A lot.  His character is as important and well acted as the others.  This movie was better than Saving Private Ryan in many ways.  And, for the record, I watched this movie wearing Old Navy Pajamas, and a pair of blue fuzzy slippers.
